A child's bed is one of the first pieces of furniture they'll genuinely call their own, and it has to do a few jobs at once — feel inviting enough to make bedtime easier, be built to handle years of use, and fit a bedroom that's often the smallest in the house. Our kids beds are made to order in the UK, upholstered in fabrics and colours children actually want, and designed to grow with the room around them.

Beds built for smaller rooms

Childrens beds rarely get the floorspace of a master suite, so size matters. Our kids beds are available across the standard UK size range, with single beds and small double beds the most popular choices for children's rooms. A Single 3ft keeps the maximum floor clear for play, while a Small Double 4ft gives a growing child room to stretch without taking over the space.

For teenagers, or larger rooms shared by siblings, Double 4ft6, King 5ft and even Super King 6ft sizes are all available — so a bed bought now can stay with them for years rather than being outgrown in a season.

Upholstered, padded and friendly

Rather than a bare metal frame or hard wood, our kids beds are upholstered. That means a padded, fabric-covered headboard and a softer finish throughout — kinder to bumps and elbows, and warmer to the touch on winter mornings than a cold frame.

You choose from the same fabric families as the rest of the range, including family-friendly options like Naples and chenille alongside plush velvet and crushed velvet. Each is available in a wide colour palette — think pink, blue and navy, green, grey, cream, beige and teal — so you can match a favourite shade or a room's existing scheme. A pink or teal bed makes a feature of the frame; a grey, cream or beige one sits more quietly and is easier to redecorate around as their tastes change.

A headboard they'll lean on

Because children read, scroll and chat in bed as much as they sleep, the headboard matters. Upholstered headboards give a padded, forgiving backrest where a metal or wooden rail would be hard and unyielding. Within the kids beds range you'll find the same headboard styles as the rest of our upholstered beds — simple panel and straight-headed designs for a clean look, buttoned styles for a little more texture, and winged styles for a cosier, enclosed feel that younger children often gravitate towards.

Storage that grows with the mess

Children accumulate a remarkable amount of stuff, so storage is worth thinking about early. Many of our kids beds can be specified with storage built in. Divan drawer options — two-drawer and four-drawer, plus footend drawers — keep bedding, toys and out-of-season clothes tucked away. For everything that doesn't have a home, a gas-lift ottoman base lifts at the end to reveal the entire space under the mattress.

Choosing a kids bed

Begin with the room. Measure not just the bed footprint but the walkway around it — children need space to dress, play and reach cupboards. Single beds are the safest fit for the tightest rooms; a small double is a comfortable step up.

Then think about headboard style. A padded panel or buttoned headboard makes a comfortable backrest for reading at night; winged styles add a cosier, enclosed feel that younger children often love. Colours can match the room now or be chosen to last beyond the next redecoration — neutral greys, creams and beiges wear well over the years.

Finally, consider storage. If the room is short on wardrobes, a bed with drawers or an ottoman base does two jobs at once. Think, too, about the years ahead — a Single is plenty for a young child, but a small double or double will still suit them through their teens, which makes it the more lasting buy.

Made to order in the UK

Every bed in this collection is made to order in our UK workshop and delivered across the country. You choose the size, fabric, colour, headboard and storage — and we build it around your child's room. A 10-year warranty upgrade is available if you'd like the reassurance of longer cover. Practical, comfortable and built to be outgrown slowly rather than quickly, a well-chosen kids bed makes the whole bedroom work harder.
